In August 2003, The Halifax Group and Carousel Capital supported a management buyout of Meineke from its parent company, Brambles Parts Industries Corporation, a subsidiary of Brambles Industries, a global organization headquartered in Australia and listed on the Australian and London Stock Exchanges.
Meineke Car Care Centers, founded in 1972 and headquartered in Charlotte, NC, is a nationwide franchisor of automotive service centers. Through its franchisee system, the Company services approximately 2.2 million cars per year in 48 states through 835 domestic and 41 international locations. Meineke service centers perform a wide range of automotive services, including exhaust, brake and suspension repairs. In addition, Meineke initiates and supports franchisees from start-up through the entire service delivery chain.
Over the course of the investment, The Halifax Group and Carousel Capital assisted the company in formulating multiple strategic objectives. During this time, Meineke launched numerous initiatives that grew revenues and profitability including revitalizing its brand image to emphasize new service offerings and introducing strategies to increase new center openings. The company also exited its company-owned operations in a strategic move to focus on its core franchising business model.
On June 15, 2005, The Halifax Group and Carousel Capital successfully exited their investment in Meineke through a management-led recapitalization resulting in significant returns for management who retained a substantial ownership stake in the company. |
