Scott-Van-DuinenScott is a Partner and member of both the Management Committee and Investment Committee of The Halifax Group.  Scott is responsible for the origination, evaluation, execution and monitoring of investments. He has more than 15 years experience in private equity investing, leveraged finance and M&A.

Prior to joining Halifax in 2004, Scott was with Merrill Lynch Capital, Merrill Lynch & Co.’s middle-market leveraged lending arm. During this tenure, he focused on underwriting, structuring, documenting and monitoring senior loans and subordinated debt used in conjunction with leveraged buyouts, acquisitions, and recapitalizations. Prior to that, he spent four years with Hunt Private Equity Group identifying, reviewing and conducting due diligence on management buyouts and later-stage equity investments. Scott started his career as an auditor with Ernst & Young.

Scott earned a B.B.A. degree in accounting from Southern Methodist University and an M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance & Strategy from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (now Booth).

Scott is a former Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Texas Society of CPAs. He is a member of the steering committee for the DFW Private Equity Forum and its past Chairman.  Scott is married, has three boys, and is very active coaching youth sports.
